Sarah Palin to join FOX News

Former Governor of Alaska, Sarah Palin, was hired on Fox News as a “contributor”. Palin will not have her own program, but she will be appearing on the networks program on a regular basis giving political commentary and analysis. Palin will also have statements posted on the Fox web site, the business cable channel, and the Fox Radio Network. Fox has not said when Palin will start, nor her salary, all is known is its a multiyear contract and she will be occasionally hosting episodes of a new series featuring true inspirational stories about Americans who have overcome diversity called “Real American Stories.”
Although most people think this is nothing more than a publicity stunt and Palin has no idea what she’s doing, they are completely wrong. In 1987, Palin earned a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism with an emphasis on broadcasting from the University of Idaho, and went on to be a local sports news reporter in Anchorage, Alaska. Palin left that job due to low pay, and the news station was sad to see her go. Palin was great not only on camera, but off camera as well. Palin is also not the only politician who has been hired on for television gigs. 2008 presidential candidate, John Huckabee, was hired on Fox News as a host. Ironically enough, both Huckabee and Palin are running for President in the next presidential election in 2012, and both say that they are not letting this job get in the way of their elections.
As a political figure, Palin is obviously comfortable on camera, and so should fit in well with the Fox News staff, especially with prior news casting experience backing her up. Palin has a unique quality to always find the best in a situation, and keep her head up in the face of naysayers. “Real American Stories” looks to be an opportunity to see a more sensitive, and human version of Palin, instead of the abrasive politician we’ve come as a country to recognize.
Some viewers will be turning off their television sets and some will be tuning them into Fox News in the weeks to come. Whatever the preference or complete abhorring to Fox’s newest staff member, Palin will soon be gracing our television sets, and it looks as though the former Alaskan governor is here to stay.
