On Thursday, March 2, 2006, the Central Valley Conference Men's Golf season began at the Central Valley Conference Mini-Tournament in Fresno, California. The event was held at the Fig Garden GC in Fresno, with five teams participating.

The Pirate's completed a successful pre-season schedule and headed into CVC play as one of the favorites for the league title. Modesto Junior College placed 2nd in the tournament behind the Rams, with a score of 379. Ben Van Buren of Modesto JC, shot a 1-over-par, with an individual score of 73. Chris Glynn and Daniel Indelicato, a freshman from Beyer High School, both shot scores of 76.

On Tuesday, March 7, 2006, the second Central Valley Conference mini-tournament was held in Visalia at the Valley Oak Course, a par 72. The result of the event was similar to that of the Fresno Tournament in the previous week.

Fresno City claimed their second straight CVC tournament win with a team score of 373. Modesto JC finished 15 strokes behind the Rams, with a very respectable score of 388. Van Buren led the Pirates for the second straight week with a score of 75.
MJC had all five of their golfers shoot in the 70's, with Indelicato and Kyle Hucknell tallying a 77, and Glynn and Ben Martinez producing 79's.

The next Central Valley Conference tournament is on Thursday, March 9, in Modesto. After hosting the mini-tournament on March 9, the competition will continue on Tuesday, March 14 at College of Sequoias.
